Upcoming Sessions

Who are we?

Recreational sailing program is a fun, no-commitment program for participants to learn the basics of sailing while accompanied by other sailors-in-training and a certified coach.

The main advantage of the recreational sailing program is that sailors are invited to come as much or as little as they wish, and only pay for the sessions they attend.

Who should join?

Recreational sailing is aimed at any UofT students who would like to learn how to sail. No previous experience is required, and all are encouraged to come out for a fun and educational time. All sailing is done on keelboats, in groups of 5 students with a certified coach.

The purpose of the program is for participants to learn the basics of sailing with the eventual goal of feeling comfortable enough to sail on their own. Once comfortable, students may keep sailing with the recreational team, or may then choose to try out for the Competitive Race Team, also offered through the U of T Sailing Club. If they would like supplementary coaching during the Spring/Summer seasons then we have a special discount to train out of J-Town and obtain your CanSail 1/2.

When and where is it?

The program runs on the weekends. Each sail is roughly three hours long and runs from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The program will begin a few weeks into September and end once it gets too cold to safely sail.

The program is operated out of the Harbourfront Centre, located on Queens Quay.

How much does it cost?

The current recreational sailing fee is $50 per session per person. This covers the cost of using the boat and the cost of the coach.

What do I need to participate?

Because of the season, it will be necessary to wear layers of clothing, particularly those that you do not mind getting wet or dirty, just in case. Comfortable closed-toed shoes should be worn. Lifejackets are provided.
