COVID-19 UPDATE

Due to the uncertain nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and Ontario’s current emergency measures, the University of Toronto Sailing Club has cancelled in-person Fall programming. This follows similar decisions made by UofT’s Sport & Rec Programs and the Canadian Intercollegiate Sailing Association.

That being said, we will have online activities for our sailors in the Fall, including virtual regattas and online socials. We hope to offer in-person competitive and recreational programs in the Spring of 2021. We look forward to seeing you online in the Fall and back on the water in the Spring!

COVID-19 UPDATE

As of now, the UofT Sailing Club is planning to proceed with our 2020-2021 season of competitive and recreational sailing. However, we will continue to monitor the situation over the summer. During this time of physical distancing, we are investigating Virtual Racing to keep our members engaged. We hope everyone stays safe and follows the guidelines and recommendations of your local government.

Competitive Team 2019/2020

Welcome to the 2019-20 Season UofT’s competitive sailors:

In September, as part of the Canadian circuit (CICSA), the competitive team will be racing in the McMaster Invitational in Hamilton; the Can/Am Cup (CICSA) at Queen’s University in Kingston, and the McGill Invitational in Montreal. In October, the team will be attending the Fleet Racing Nationals at Royal Military College in Kingston.

As for the MAISA circuit in the States, the UofT competitive sailing team hopes to compete at the Can/Am Cup (MAISA) held at Queen’s University in Kingston; the NY Maritime Fall Open at SUNY Maritime College in NYC; the Nevins trophy at the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York; and the Stoney Brook Fall regatta in Stony Brook, NY.

We are looking forward to another great year!

Recreational Programme 2019

Hey Sailors!

We are excited to start our Rec Sailing season here at the University of Toronto this month! Our first meeting on Sept 14 is an on-land session where you will learn some of the basics of sailing, such as the parts of the boat, points of sail, and how to prepare for your first day on the water. After that we will have our four Saturday sessions (Sept 21 - Oct 12) where skilled coaches will take five people per boat on the water so you can experience sailing in Toronto Harbour! The Rec Sailing program is also a great way to make new friends, and we will have a social after each sailing session!

By the end of the Rec Sailing season, we hope that you will feel comfortable with some of the basics of sailing as crew and at the helm. We also hope that you’ve gained an appreciation for sailing and if you can’t get enough, we have a partnership with St. James Town Sailing Club so you can get CAN1/2 certification once the sailing season starts again in April!

See you on the water,

Co-Vice Presidents of Recreation
